Kristy and Astrid are co-hosting with Fran and Marcos from Cenote Portraits a Create with Sirens Event : a one-of-a-kind experience dedicated to those who want to create captivating content and explore underwater modeling in one of the most beautiful locations on Earth.
Attendees will learn the art, skills, and mindset of underwater posing from Astrid Kallsen and Kristy Jessica—two heavily experienced models with a decade of knowledge modeling underwater—and come out of it with professional photos and videos. With the lush jungles, beaches, and cenotes of the Mexican Caribbean (Playa del Carmen) as our backdrop, this is the perfect chance to join us for a truly unique photo experience exploring all the natural beauty that Mexico has to offer both above and under the water. This event was created for anyone interested in underwater photography (regardless of your experience level with modeling) and anyone who wants to create unique, one-of-a-kind content for themselves, their social media, or their business. We have teamed up with Cenote Portraits to help us capture beautiful underwater photos and videos so that we can focus on providing model coaching and assistance (although we will also be available to capture photos and videos throughout the event).
Over the two-day event, we will take the participants to a variety of cenotes, jungles, and beaches to create a dynamic range of content, and with Cenote Portraits on board, we will have the added benefits of not only years of professional underwater photography experience but also of local knowledge from someone who knows where to find all the hidden gems tucked away in the Mexican jungle.
Nudity is not required at all, and although no modeling experience is necessary, some basic experience with water is important for this event—like basic swimming and water treading. That being said, we will provide floats and will always be near to provide assistance and comfort
What is Expect in Mexico
Playa del Carmen is located in what is referred to as the Riviera Maya—the beautiful part of the Mexican Caribbean that starts in Cancun and goes all the way to Tulum.
PDC is uniquely located between Cancun and Tulum—giving it convenient access to all the best beaches, lush jungles, and cenotes around.
So, what are cenotes anyways?
Cenotes are unique to this corner of the world. They are large sinkholes and caves with fresh water naturally occurring along the Yucatan Pennisula and are often tucked away in the jungle. They were formed by the erosion of the limestone (what the peninsula is made from) over centuries.
Cenotes offer a wide variety of landscapes and settings from emerald green lilypads and mangroves to cool blue caves and stalagmites! The cenotes can be a bit chilly, typically around 76℉ year around. Luckily, with our guidance, we don’t have to stay in the water too long, and there is plenty of time to warm up in the Mexican sun between shoots.
The cenotes are typically crystal clear, but since weather and popularity can affect their clarity, we do not predetermine which ones we will go to until the weekend of the event
